PETER OBI VISITS ST. GERALD’S HOSPITAL

The Presidential Candidate of Labour Party in the last General Election, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, was at St. Gerard’s Catholic Hospital, Kakuri, Kaduna, on 22nd April, 2024, to support those who find it difficult to pay their hospital bills.
In his speech during the visit Mr. Obi said “I am not here for polities, before I became a politician I have been helping and building humanity around the world and whatever God has given us is to help humanity”.
Obi stated that he did not come for political campaign, stating: “We are not looking for votes; we are investing in health all over the country. The students here are not my children nor the children of the provost neither are they the children of the Archbishop, but they are Nigerians and that is what matters”.
He also mentioned that he was at one of the Almajiri Schools in Kaduna where he saw brilliant children learning. “We shall take school to them, we shall see how we can teach them English and Mathematics because among them I saw future Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers and lot more”.
Obi revealed that part of his activities each month is to visit one or two hospitals around the country, to support those who cannot pay their hospital or medical bills.
He thanked the Archbishop for the warm reception and promised to invite his friends to support St. Gerard’s College of Nursing Science.
Peter Obi donated the sum of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000) to the hospital.
In his remarks on behalf of the staff of tge Hospital and the management of the School of Nursing Sciences, the Archbishop Ndagoso welcomed Mr. Peter Obi and thanked him for creating time to visit and identify with the hospital, adding that “It is not surprising to those of us who know you and what you are doing for humanity”. The Archbishop assured him that whatever he has given will be judiciously used for the service of humanity and thanked him for his kind generosity.
It would be recalled that in 2023, St. Gerard’s School of Nursing was elevated to a College of Nursing Sciences and the students admission increased to hundred (100) per year. Currently it has almost 675 students studying Nursing at the College.
